Incomplete Prediction in Grammar?

Incomplete Prediction means there is a need of extra word to be used in predicate to define other words.


When we talk about Intransitive Verb of Incomplete Prediction, we see it is Noun, pronoun, adjective, gerund, participle etc. that are used to give complete meaning to Subject and Object.

There are two types of Complement.


1. Subjective Complement

2. Objective Complement 

Extra word which gives more information about Subject is called as Subjective Complement.

Ex: He is my brother


When Predicate is completed by a Noun, such Noun is called to be Predicative Noun and said to be used Predicatively. Similarly, when the predicate is completed by an adjective, such an adjective is said to be used Predicatively or to be a Predicative Adjective.


Extra Word which is used to give more information about object is called as Objective Complement.

Ex: I called him Sam.


A complement can be an Adjective.

Ex: The sky grew dark.


Can be a Noun.

Ex: Venus is a planet.


Can be a Pronoun.

Ex: It is me.


Can be a Participle.

Ex: The man seems worried 


Can be an Adverb.

Ex: Your book is there.


Can be an Infinitive 

The house is to let.


Can be a group of words/ Phrase doing the work of adjective.

The building is in a dilapidated condition.
